GPU: requirement- why or why not

The screen display is comprised of millions of pixels at one instant. The CPU sends information about the images required to the graphics card. The graphics card decides how to use the pixels on the screen to create the image. It then sends that information to the monitor through a cable. The work of a GPU is an extremely complex process.

To make a 3D image, the graphics card creates a wire frame, rasterizes the image, addslighting, texture and color. For complex games and HD videos the computer has to go through this process more than fifty times per second.

Without a GPU to perform the required image and video processing, the workload would be too much for the computer to handle.

As you can predict, a graphics card or a GPU is only required for computers that are used for playing games, viewing High-Definition videos, video and image editing.

But, the GPU is recommended for all computers because it relieves the CPU from a significant amount of processing.
